In cooperation with the creator of the world’s first Leica M Mount helicoid adapter, Hawks Factory, the new Tsubasa Tsubame 35mm F2 is made using cutting edge techniques and top grade materials whilst maintaining the feel of a classic lens.

The Leica M mount lenses, sold from the ‘50s to the 80s, brings together a high-resolution image whilst producing the soft peripheral blur unique to classic lenses. Classic Leica lenses’, with their ability to a create dramatically different portrayals based on different aperture, continue to garner admiration from around the world.

The compact size of Leica M Mount lenses is big part of its appeal. Its 6-group 8-element construction minimises aberration – a crucial issue in its design. Through Japanese craftsmanship and polishing techniques we are meticulous in bringing out the very best from each element. Our delicate finishing produces lenses with character. We don’t simply make high-resolution lenses, rather we aim to produce a lens that boasts the depth of expression one expects of a classic lens.

To recreate the qualities associated with the old Leica favourites of the past, first we need to create and polish a high-precision optical lens. The product of meticulous Japanese craftsmanship and three years of development, the new Leica M Mount Tsubasa Swallow 35mm F2 is our take on a the old classics.

We have honed our techniques over the years to make sure our work is highly-precise in every stage of the production process. Our lens barrels’ all-metal construction results in higher durability and accuracy. A design to last the test of time.

Hawk Factory’s Tsubasa Series is an original design based on the old Leica M Mount favourites. However, whilst being a nod to Leica, the Tsubasa Series meets all the demands of modern filmmaking and photography. With an entirely original design from glass to barrel – the Tsubasa Series are modern lenses with the personality of a classic.
